This week, I chose to visit the virtual gallery called National Gallery of Modern Art

1. Why did you select the inspiration pieces?
I selected the inspiration pieces because I loved the work by this particular artist. The fact that the artist is a woman also was inspiring in itself because we do not often see them being celebrated in the art world. The confidence that I see in these painting I also see in myself and thought they would be a great representation.
2. Why did you select the media to create your self-portrait?
I selected the media pencil to create my self portrait because it was the most accessible and convenient for me. Since I am not great at art, I knew I would be making quite a few mistakes and wanted to be able to easily erase any mistakes.
3. What challenges did you face in creating your self-portrait and how did you overcome them?
The challenges I faced was trying my hardest to get my drawing to look as close as possible to the original photograph. I had a hard time applying some of the details that are in the original photograph as well.
4. How does this piece represent you?
This piece represents me because it is how I typically look on a daily basis. This is also my go to look for my hair and typically how my facial expression is in my photographs.
5. What elements and principles of art did you apply in this work?
The elements and principles of art that I applied in this work were, line, shape, and contrast.
6. Did you enjoy working on this project?
I did enjoy working on this project because it allowed me to be more patient when creating artwork. Although I had some difficulties, I was able to push through that and finish the piece.
7. What do you think of your final artwork?
I am not entirely impressed with my final artwork. It did not come out the way I envisioned it because it did not look much like the original photograph.

Balance: The picture of the trees, some of which the leaves have fallen off of is represented in this photograph. The natural light along with the lights from the buildings and the buildings themselves creates an image that illustrates unity. 2. Color: The combination of bright, vibrant colors that fills the fish captures a variety of colors. 3. Contrast: The image that is created by dots has dark shades in some areas and light shades in others. The focus of the image can be drawn more toward the center because of how the light hits it. 4. Shape: This image illustrates a combination of regular and irregular shapes. The overlapping of the shapes helps to create one large shape. 5.
