module 13/14 video review

1. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.
From the “Tate modern” video, I learned how to keep a specific theme throughout an exhibit. I also learn that although art work can be different, they can still relate. For example, a painting on the wall in a exhibit connected to a sculpture because they both were curved. In “The Lockdown on Lowbrow” video, I learned that by art historians, it is known as pop surrealism, but by practitioners it is known as Lowblow. I also learned that this movement was important for women because it allowed them to show how they can contribute to the art world by creating pieces such as nude paintings of women. In the “An Acquiring Mind” video, I learned that despite pieces of artwork being different, they can be a part of the same exhibit because they share something in common. I also learned that Phillip de Montello was director of the Metropolitan Museum of Art for 31 years.
2. Do the videos relate to the creation of your Art Exhibition project? If yes, explain how. If no, explain why not.
The videos do not directly relate to the theme in my exhibit. However, there are concepts that I see in common. The concept of keeping a theme throughout does relate to me decisions in what I included in my exhibit. The ways in which the artists go about choosing their works relates to how I went about deciding what i wanted to be in my exhibit. Even if the pieces of artwork did not completely tie into a concept, they did relate in some way that made it obvious to the audience.
3. What is your opinion of the films? Do they add depth to understanding of the art concepts you practiced while creating your curation project?
I enjoyed watching the videos. I found them to be very helpful with the information it gave regarding how to go about creating this project. From the videos, I was able to learn about various techniques that I can use to incorporate into my own exhibit.
