Module 6 peer review blog

Project 1
Project 2
2. When looking at Project #1: (Elements and Principles), did you agree with the element or principle the artist listed with the images? Did you see other elements and principles in the images?
It was interesting to look at the images that my peers used for this particular project and also the principles and elements that each pictured was categorized under. I did agree with the elements and principles that each peer listed with the images. Both peers had completely different images, however they still captured the aspect of art that the student expressed. I loved the pictured used by both of my peers. I could see the thought and work that they each put into this project. I did not see other elements and principles in the images. The pictures they took and included vividly expressed the art term they labeled each image with. Overall I thought they did a great job!
3. When looking at Project #2: Where there any images in the Peer Blogs the same as your own? If yes, what were they? Where the reasons the image was selected the same or different as your own?
One of my peers, Shakira Alston and I did not have any pictures that were the same for this project. My other peer, Durga Dahal did have images I included in my project. We both had the piece entitled “The Servant Girl” by Amedeo Modigliani and “The Family” by Charles Webster Hawthorne. For “The Family” painting, we both selected them under artworks we would like to know more about. We did have similar reasons as to why we selected them under that question, but we also shared different reasons as well. For “The Servant Girl” painting, the reason we selected each image was different. I also put this painting under the category for artworks I would like to know more about, while Durga put the painting under artworks that had an impression/impact.
4. Where there any images that your Peers selected that pique your interest now? If yes, what are they and what is your connection with them? What would you want to know about them?
The image that pique my interest is called “Cinema” by George Segal. The fact that this is not a painting like the other art pieces I saw resulted in it catching my attention even more. The artist used plaster which I thought was unique. I liked the fact that the artist created a life size human like figure. I would like to know what motivated the artist to create this masterpiece and what wa going on historically at the time. Another image that pique my interest is the painting called “Notre-dame” by Henri Matisse. It gives me a feeling of being home in New York City and looking out my window and being able to see a view of the city and people walking. For these reasons I feel emotionally connected to this piece. I would like to know if where the artist lived had anything to do with the creation of this piece.
5. What do you think about the process of reading your peers reflection? Do you find this to be a valuable in your learning?
I enjoyed reading my peers reflection and having them do the same to mine. With this I was able to clearly see what they thought and compare it to what I thought. This is a good way for us to grow as students and strengthen our work. I definitely find this to be valuable because with this process I am able to avoid certain mistakes. I am also able to get another point of view, which can help me to extend my knowledge on topics and pieces of artwork. Overall, I am able to become a better student because this allows me to be open to comments and critiques.
6. Check your Blog and read comments posted by your Peers. Do you find their comments helpful?
I do find the comments on my blog post helpful. I was able to get confirmation for my work from my classmates. This boosted my confidence because I was able to have a proud moment about the work I produced. Their comments further proved that I was on the right path and that they got the same perceptions while looking at my pictures. With the art gallery visit, I was able to see what they thought about the body of art that I decided to include.
