Note: The slide show goes in order of how the elements and principles are listed below.
1. Balance: The picture of the trees, some of which the leaves have fallen off of is represented in this photograph. The natural light along with the lights from the buildings and the buildings themselves creates an image that illustrates unity.
2. Color: The combination of bright, vibrant colors that fills the fish captures a variety of colors.
3. Contrast: The image that is created by dots has dark shades in some areas and light shades in others. The focus of the image can be drawn more toward the center because of how the light hits it.
4. Shape: This image illustrates a combination of regular and irregular shapes. The overlapping of the shapes helps to create one large shape.
5. Emphasis: This plate of chicken pasta shows emphasis because of how you are able to see every layer of the dish. Each aspect stands out separately and together stands out as an amazing looking dish.
6. Line: The element of line can be shown here with the picture of the leaf. The veins of the leaf captures this element of line.
7. Value: This next slide shows a picture of a chandelier hanging from the ceiling. In some areas, the light in the image is darker in some areas and lighter in others.
8. Space: This is a picture of a multiple coat hook over a door. The space between each hook helps to draw more focus to the item itself.
9. Texture: The of the red star one the decorative pillow serves as a great example which gives us the opportunity to see as well as feel the area on the pillow.
10. Form: The triangular shape of the roof of this building captures the element of form. The windows along with the structure of the balcony also adds to the meaning of the element.
11. Movement: The photograph of the cars moving on the street generates movement. The eyes are able to move as the scene of what is taking place is being processed.
12. Proportion: The picture of the two cups are shown side by side to place emphasis on the size of each.
13. Pattern: The fabric has a pattern that is repeated throughout. The symbols on the fabric is overlapped which gives the image a unified look.
14. Unity: The artificial flowers placed on top of a table are created in a way that they tie together well. The flowers are identical when it comes to the details which helps to express unity.
The process:
Prior to beginning the photography process, I was a little confused because I was not sure how I would find a picture to capture each element and principle. However, as soon as I began to take pictures everything started to come to me. I was learning more about art while I was having fun. I took a few pictures that I thought would capture each element and principle. From there I narrowed it down and chose the ones that best suited each aspect of the project.
As for the technical process, I did struggle more than I thought I would. I first attempted to use google photo because I am accustomed to using google docs and google slides so I assumed it would be similar. When I could not figure out how to edit the slides I then decided to create a photobuckets account. This was much easier for me to use and so I created my slideshow using photobuckets. One things I could not figure out was how to edit each image to label what element or principle they were. I decided to just list each element on the blog post to make things easier for myself. Overall I had a great experience with this process because I was able to pay attention more to compositions of art that I bypassed before.
You're project was very interesting and detailed with the pictures and meaning behind it. My favorite would be #2 and #14. #2 and its bright colors brings out the fish but at the same time blends it in with the vibrant colors and in #14 I just simply love roses and the concept you made about it being unity was awesome!
ReplyDeleteYour photos you chose for this project was very interesting to look at. All the pictures seeemed to have a theme to me with calmer colors, especially #1 and #11, with grayer tones and realistic view to give them a similar vibe. The pictures in a way could have told a story, with how they all seemed to link together as well!
